Clark Middle School burns in East St. Louis

KMOV reported tonight that Clark Middle School on State Street in East St. Louis, which was scheduled to be turned into apartments, burned this evening.  Photos show extensive damage including partial collapse.

Another one bites the dust. Might seem cold, but "Another One Bites the Dust" was one of Mr. Crowell's school dance favorites when I was a kid at Harding Elementary, which also burned a couple of years ago. Clark school was really old, though, and probably would have made awful housing. And maybe I'm stupid, but the city requested $22 million to convert this school to 100 low-rent housing units. Uhh...that's $220,000 a unit. Nice apartments.
