Last Gasp of Ambiance at Euclid & Forest Park

A view of the Ettrick Building enjoyed with a group of friends Friday evening from the sidewalk tables at Tom's Bar & Grill on Euclid just north of Forest Park Boulevard.  Our server told us that Tom's had been notified that demolition would begin next week.
The scale and character of the Ettrick contrasted with the scale and character very similar to that which will replace the Ettrick: the Center for Advanced Medicine across Forest Park Boulevard.

next week? I'm really concerned about how Tom's and the other restaurants there will survive during the demolition & construction ...

It's a shame that the medical complex continues to pursue demolitions when there is a plethora of surface parking lots to be built on. Rabe Hall is next-- why not spare the Ettrick and build the tower next to Rabe?

Does common sense ever prevail in this town?

Gasm, I like your style. Rabe hall is hideous, and using that lot combined with the forest park/taylor parking lot would be a great space for a clinic building.
